Paid Paternity Leave
WHAT IS IT AND WHERE DO I FIND THE INFORMATION?
Often referred to as Paternity Leave or Parental Leave there are extensive guidelines and rules.
The information you seek comes under the heading 'Parental Leave' in both our publications "Holidays 2008" and "Parental Leave".
The publications deal with the four types of leave employees can apply for:
-
Maternity Leave (Both males & females)
- Paternity Leave (Males)
- Extended Leave (Both males & females)
- Special Leave (Females)
Maternity leave is applied for by both females and males and has individual criteria employees must meet to qualify. Paternity Leave is leave applied for by males who intend to care for a child under 5 years of age and Extended Leave is for both male & female applicants and attracts different criteria again to claim.
Extended Leave provides for applicants who intend to assume the care of a child under 5 years of age.
Special Leave provides females with the right to apply to apply for anti-natal treatment.
This is prior to maternity leave.
These are electronic publications – up dated in April 2008 - which you can purchase and download immediately.
