Annual Holiday Entitlement
Annual Holidays, Holiday Pay, Public Holidays & Leave Entitlements are all covered in our e-Book publication "Annual
Holidays & Leave". It is an electronic book - up dated in October 2011 - which you can purchase and download immediately.
There is now a myriad of new rules to follow when calculating employee's entitlements to Annual Holidays, Holiday Pay, Public Holidays and the various 'alternative holidays' for those who work on a Public Holiday. Business owners and managers need to be aware of the law as it relates to Casual Employees who work on a Public Holiday.
The publication refers to Sick Leave, Bereavement Leave and Parental Leave. The references to Parental Leave are included for the reader's convenience. Parental Leave is however, covered by a Separate Act to the Holidays Act. It is the Parental Leave & Employment Protection Act 1987 (amended 2002 - paid parental leave & 2005 - extended to 14 weeks paid leave & 2006 - extended to self employed persons).
The Act and the obligations it brings to employers justify a complete read and understanding by owners and managers.
The management and mismanagement of employee's holidays, Parental Leave and holiday pay entitlements form the basis of a large proportion of workplace disputes and Personal Grievances.
