Important Law Changes 2011:
-
From 1st July 2011, employers are required to retain a signed copy of the employees' employment agreement, (or if there is no signed employment agreement, the current terms and conditions of employment) and provide a copy of that document to an employee or their representative as soon as reasonably practicable.
The employer could face a penalty of up to $20,000 if the employer fails to rectify a breach of these obligations, when required to do so by a Labour Inspector. The Labour Inspector can also bring an action for a penalty if the employment agreement does not contain the minimum terms required by the Act. ;
-
From 1st April 2011, employers can pay out the 4th week of Annual Holidays under a number of conditions;
-
90 Day Trial Periods and how they are applied;
-
The transferring of Public Holidays;
-
The calculation of relevant daily pay changes (used for calculating sick pay, bereavement leave pay, public holiday pay and alternative holiday pay).
