Minimum wage increase already decided

Published 19 Dec 2018

Government Minister Iain Lees-Galloway has just announced the adult minimum wage for 2019 will be raised to $17.70 per hour. That's $1.20 increase on 2018, and in line with their promise to raise it further to $20 per hour by 2021.

The news was welcomed by Council of Trade Unions but not so from the National party nor BusinessNZ who believe this will put huge strain on small to medium enterprises already struggling for profitability, and will cause subsequent job losses.

Minimum wage will change April 1st 2019.
